About John Harvey
Dr. Harvey is an eye surgeon specializing in oculoplastic, reconstructive and cosmetic eyelid surgery. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario medical school and did his ophthalmology residency training in Ottawa.
His post-graduate fellowship work was at the University of Iowa where he acquired sub-specialty skills in the area of oculoplastic, reconstructive, lacrimal, orbital and cosmetic surgery.
Currently, Dr. Harvey is Professor and Head of the Division of Ophthalmology, Department of Surgery at McMaster University and Site Director of the Department of Ophthalmology, Hamilton Health Sciences, MUMC campus. As well as doing oculoplastic & cosmetic surgery, Dr. Harvey is engaged in teaching and research.
Dr. Harvey is active in the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) where he sits on the Education Committee, co-directs a fellowship program and frequently presents at the annual academic meeting.
Dr. Harvey is a member of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology among other professional organizations.
Dr. Harvey has given almost 100 presentations at professional meetings and has authored (or co-authored) nearly 50 papers.
